The teapot form is ancient and iconic, once highly prized and rare, now conjuring up images of everyday comfort and domesticity. I did not decide one day to focus only on teapots but gradually found that I was doing just that because they offer so much room for interpretation. Beginning with purely functional designs, I soon noticed that the most rewarding and interesting results came when I ignored function. With a nod to my early training as a potter, each piece has a spout, lid, handle and glazed interior, but they are now sculptural, not functional pots. Oddly, restricting myself to this one form has offered me more creative variations than I ever thought possible and watching them come together is still a crazy mystery.
